Programs for students that address mental health topics including suicide prevention, along with the presence of psychiatric social workers, and access to mental health clinics are all part of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s plan to improve student well-being and safety. “In the current climate that we live in, there are a lot of stressors for students, so I feel that it is important to have that awareness and support,” said psychiatric social worker Karina Lares.
