In recognition of International Men’s Day, Pompey are gearing up for a week of meaningful initiatives, spotlighting male figures associated with the club.
This will lead up to the League One match against Blackpool at Fratton Park on Saturday.
This year’s theme is ‘Zero Male Suicide’ and acknowledging the growing importance of addressing mental health concerns, especially among men, the club are taking a proactive stance to encouraging open conversations.
Throughout the week, the Blues will spotlight different themes linked to the positive contributions made by males associated with Portsmouth FC.
This initiative seeks to recognise and celebrate the diverse roles men play within the club and the broader community.
As well as this, several members of the men’s first team are actively participating in Movember, a global movement dedicated to raising awareness about men’s mental health, testicular cancer and prostate cancer.
Having already raised more than £1,000 for men’s research and suicide prevention charities through their involvement, the players are contributing to important conversations around mental health and encouraging supporters to donate to this worthy cause.
Then on Saturday, recognising that there are barriers in being able to attend a match at Fratton Park, the club are donating tickets to male participants associated with Pompey in the Community.
In a heartfelt message to all supporters, Pompey encourage anyone struggling with mental health challenges to reach out for help.
