As part of its annual stationery drive, humanitarian aid organisation, Gift of the Needy distributed stationery to pupils of Astra Primary as well as Meadowlands Technical High School, recently.
The distribution was conducted last week.
Pupils were elated with the items of stationery, which will greatly assist them in their scholastic year.
Based in Overport, Gift of the Needy is an NGO that regularly conducts outreach projects to make a tangible difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
The stationery drive is held in partnership with Freedom Stationery and has also benefited many schools in Umzinto, Port Shepstone, Stanger, and Phoenix. Gift of the Needy acknowledges the challenges schools encounter due to financial constraints and this project is envisioned to alleviate the plight of teachers and pupils.

The organisation believes that no child should be left behind and every effort should be made to assist pupils to excel in their scholastic journey.
The organisation is also engaged in school nutrition programmes and uniform drives. Recently, Gift of the Needy supplied thousands of litres of oxygenated, bottled water to areas afflicted by the water crisis.
The principals of the beneficiary schools were grateful for the sponsorship of stationery items and acknowledged the vital role played by NGOs like Gift of the Needy in partnering with them to realise their objectives.
It is imperative to assist pupils at schools as many are hampered by financial challenges and Gift of the Needy is committed to uplifting communities in whatever way they can. Their humanitarian interventions are ongoing.
