Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is said to have taken inspiration from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon – MyCyberBase
With the Hollywood actors strike now over, stars of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire have begun taking to social media to promote yesterday’s trailer reveal.
Franchise newcomer Kumail Nanjiani would be amongst the first not only express his excitement for the film, remembering the first time he watched the 1984 original, writing, “It felt like someone had made a movie just for me,” but would then state that Frozen Empire takes influence from The Real Ghostbusters, sharing that the animated series was a “point of reference” for the filmmakers.

The response from Frozen Empire‘s teaser trailer has thus far been highly positive, with many praising what appears to be a fresh take on the nearly 40-year-old franchise. In an interview with OK! conducted earlier this year, Nanjiani would tease this new direction, saying it “makes the world a lot bigger.”
“I think it explores, and it makes the world a lot bigger. People are going to love it because it’s just this great thing where it feels new, and it’s going in this direction.”
Fellow newcomer Patton Oswalt would also share his joy, proclaiming, “I’m in a Ghostbusters movie! Sooooo cool.” This led to a correspondence with a fan, with Oswalt being asked if bustin’ felt good, to which he jokingly responded, “It made me feel great! No, hang on, shit…”
Slated to arrive in theaters on March 29th, 2024, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Logan Kim, Celeste O’Connor, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts, in addition to series newcomers Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind.
