Footage shows moment Jon Jones ‘tore pec from bone’ as horrific injury derails Stipe Miocic fight – MyCyberBase

Jon Jones has been forced to pull out of the UFC 295 showdown with Stipe Miocic after ‘tearing his pec from the bone’.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the highly-anticipated heavyweight title fight is off as a result of the horrific injury Jones suffered in training.

November 11 will now see British fighter Tom Aspinall face Sergei Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight title as a co-main event with Jiri Prochazka vs Alex Pereira.

White said: “Jon Jones was training last night, got injured, he was wrestling and he tore the tendon that connects your pec to to the bone, off the bone. Eight months, going to need surgery. He’s out.”

The UFC chief shared footage of ‘Bones’ wrestling with a sparring partner before clutching his chest in serious discomfort.

It derails what was likely to be the biggest UFC fight of the year, which was set to take place in New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Jones was hoping to cement his legacy the greatest MMA fighter in history against Miocic, who is the consensus best heavyweight.

It remains to be seen whether Jones, now 36, will reschedule the fight in 2024 after at least eight months on the sidelines.

Many expected the Miocic showdown to be the American’s final appearance in the Octagon.

While the news comes as a hammer blow for fight fans, it presents a huge opportunity for Aspinall.

The Brit returned to the winner’s circle with victory over Marcin Tybura in March and could now position himself for a shot at the heavyweight crown.
