Income factors into adverse childhood experiences

Results from the National Health Interview Survey by the CDC reveal that 1 in 5 children from families with incomes up to double the federal poverty level experienced at least one adverse childhood experience in 2021, while less than 1 in 8 children from families with higher incomes had similar experiences. ACEs have been associated with poor adult health outcomes and can impact academic performance, behavioral, and cognitive issues in students.
